Program Overview

In 2021, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development launched the Emergency Housing Voucher (EHV) program. EHV helps homeless and at risk families locate rental housing and provides financial assistance to make their rent affordable. HACSB received authorization to serve up to 455 individuals and families and began accepting referrals for the EHV Program from the San Bernardino County Coordinated Entry System and Victim Services Providers on October 4, 2021. All 455 EHV slots have been filled and HACSB has stopped leasing new families under the program.

Under the EHV program, families must be low-income and meet at least one of the following categories:

  1. Homeless
  2. At risk of being homeless
  3. Fleeing or attempting to flee:
    1. Domestic violence;
    2. Dating violence;
    3. Sexual assault;
    4. Stalking; and/or
    5. Human trafficking
  4. Recently homeless, and rental assistance will prevent a return to homelessness or high risk of housing instability.
